Snow Canyon Half Marathon

I did it! Woohoo! I ran the Snow Canyon half marathon and finished it, without walking during the whole thing. I've been saying i've wanted to do a half marathon for a long time and I finally committed to it and I'm so i'm happy to say I'VE DONE IT! I am so happy that I did, I feel accomplished and it was way worth it. Race atmosphere's are so much fun, and although it did get boring while running I would do another one, but hopefully I can con someone into running it with me so it isn't so boring :-) Any takers? And I do have admit that I was pretty stylish in the beginning, unfortunately not pictures to prove it, but here is a clue on how stylish I looked: i was wearing a green shirt (which you can see in the pics) and Red/White striped arm socks. I looked like Christmas! I got quite a few comments about them and I was a bit embarrassed at first, but I got over it because arm socks are the BEST thing to wear, They just come right off when it gets warm.

Happy Halloween!! Here is my quick little post. Halloween was a blast, I dressed up as Dorothy and thank you to Julie for making my Dorothy dress and Thank you target for having my "ruby slippers" on sale. I love a sale! And P.S. my 1/2 marathon is in 4 days!! Yikes!

Lewis & Clark + Sacagawea

School is half way over for the semester, HALLELUJAH! and Jim, Chad, and I needed an adventure. So my first thought was a weekend trip to the Grand Canyon and they went for it. As we were getting ready to leave Chad looked up the map and then realized you need a 4-Wheel drive car to get to the place we wanted to go. So that idea was out the door! After some thinking and a few more phone calls we got ourselves a canoe from Chad's friend Eldon and decided to head to Baker Reservoir in Veyo.. we wanted to go somewhere new, but we drove through and decided this was not the place, there was "no camping" signs about every 20 feet. So we headed to Gunlock and it was way better!! Here the 3 of us are with tons of stuff because we were originally planning on going to the Grand Canyon but still took it all of it with us and we load it in the canoe plus the 3 of us. We barely fit and the boat was a little heavier then it should of been. But we headed out on the reservoir at night hoping not to tip over. And to no surprise i was freaking out that we were going to tip over which most of it was probably my fault in the first place, but we made it back to ground and found us a camping spot! We built a fire and set up camp and were ready for the night begin. We made "smockos" which are toritillas, chocolate chips and mini marshmallows wrapped in tin foil. They are delicious, just try them! And then tin foil dinners, which a good trick is to put cream of mushroom soup/cream of chicken soup on the top and they come out moist and flavorful! Long story short, we went to sleep and it rained on us all night so we woke up soaking wet!!!!... packed up camp and headed back out on the reservoir where a lady took some sweet pictures to us, had us row into shore and she got our information to email them. So cool! And then had some fun with the canoe in Raintree Apartment pool! :) And the name Lewis & Clark + Sacagawea came from the nice lady (Tee).

JACK JOHNSON!!!!

I have been waiting a long time to see Jack in concert and I was finally able too, and my sweet roomate came with me even though she hardly knows any of his songs. But almost all my siblings in my family went and we went to eat at a place called Pat's BBQ in SLC which looks like a total dump outside but is DELICIOUS! It was such a fun atmosphere and I loved the restaurant, I would recommend going there and plus it was on the food network! :) The concert was so good, and as you can see we were not close to the stage, but it was all good, we still had a blast! And my family actually had really good seats so my kind sister lent me her binoculars because she didn't need them :)

PineValley Campin'

About a month ago, all of us wanted to get out of the St. George heat and decided to head up to Pine Valley, but didn't want to pay for a campsite, so we drove on some dirt roads thanks to Jimmy's adventuremobile a.k.a. Grandma car and hiked down a ways and found a spot probably one someone's property but it was perfect!! we set up Logan's hammock between two trees, had a tent that 5 of us squished and it's only meant for 4. That was a little too close for comfort, and built a fire. It was such a fun night! Chad brought his gun and I actually shot it, my first time ever! And I kinda liked it :)

San Francisco

San Francisco is so cool!! My roomies and i were able to go on a weekend getaway to San Fran and we had great chaperons who drove us to every destination and never complained once... Thanks Mom and Dad Andrus! Here are some pics :)

4th of July

Even though St. George is way too hot my family still came down for 4th of July weekend! :) It was fun to have them in town. On Saturday Chad and Logan offered to take my family on an "easy" canyon. It is called Yankeedoodle in Leeds. All i can say is what an experience to have an advantage of knowing what I was doing over people in my family. I was really happy to take them with and Chad and Logan have so much PATIENCE!! Holy Cow it is a good thing they do because we all had problems with some of the obstacles, well except my brother Tim and my brother-in-law Jared. But we all made it out alive, and started heading out on the dirt road to make it to dinner and then Logan got a flat tire. Shoot! But finally Jimmy made it to us with tools and a jack. But on everyone's last day here we went swimming and it played with my camera underwater. So much fun!

Spry Canyon... Well not quite..

Jim, Logan, Chad, and I left to go and do Spry Canyon in Zion National Park and so we printed off the map for the canyon and all the info, but we didn't look close enough at the information. So we got there at around 11am and you are supposed to start this one early, like all other canyons and we park our car and then try and hitch hike up to the start of the canyon..after about 20 cars passed we finally got picked up. (Yahoo!) We started up the steep trail to the canyon.. up a mountain side in the hot sun!! We finally made it to the top!! But then found out this is not the spot so we had to climb back down and try going up around the other side.. (which i was not happy to climb down a mountain side) and we made it to the next stop that we thought was the start and we pulled out the map and the boys were trying to figure everything out and we discovered that our rope wasn't quite long enough...OOPS! So we turned around again and headed back down the mountain. But found a little side canyon, chaddy set up the rappel and we headed down.. We decided to call it "My Canyon". We made it down a lot of little obstacles and made it out before dark. Woohoo!! Making it out before dark is a rare occassion. And here are some fun pics of the whole adventure! :)
